Recommended eBook - empfohlenes eBook

Today I came across a post on Lauras blog, writing about her husband having published a booklet about their emigration from Scotland to New Zealand. It's called  Cricket By Candlelight by Lloyd Jerome and you can buy it on Amazon as a Kindle eBook for 3 € / 4$ / £ 2

 

First I thought "Gosh, you haven't got a Kindle, so you can't read it" But when readig through the comments on Laura's Blog I found someone mentioning a free program that enables you to read a Kindle eBook on your computer. So off I went, downloading that program and I managed doing so without the help of the younger generation. I'm so proud of myself ☺☺☺

Buying that book was a bit more complicated. First I had to create a new Kindle account, then to transfer it from the USA to this hemisphere. 15 Minutes later I could finally buy the book itself. Jippiiieeehhh!!!!

I read all through that bok in one go, just stopped for another cuppa or a pee. It's written in a very amusing way and I hope we haven't seen the last of Lloyd's books ☺

He tells us about the first thoughts leaving the rat race as a dentist in Glasgow, about buying their small farm in New Zealand and some episodes from their everyday life (buying their car, their animals, favourite pastime, ...) But all with a twinkle in the eye. You don't find any complains or whinging. And you don't find any tipps about how-to-emigrate. It's just Laura's and Lloyd's way from Glasgow to NZ.

Do I have to mention that I enjoyed reading the book? Well, I really did. I can highly recommend it. Read it with a glass of wine or a cuppa and relax.

Heute bin ich in Laura's Blog auf einen Post gestoßen, in welchem sie kundtut, dass ihr Mann ein Büchlein über ihre Auswanderung von Schottland nach Neuseeland geschrieben hat. Es heißt

Cricket By Candlelight von Lloyd Jerome und ist als Kindle Book bei Amazon erschienen zum Preis von 3€. 

Zuerst dachte ich "Mist, du hast doch keinen Kindle, also kannst du es auch nicht lesen". Doch als ich die Kommentare zu Lauras Blog las, stieß ich darauf, dass Kindle ein kostenloses Programm anbietet, welches es erlaubt, Kindle-eBooks auch auf dem normalen PC zu lesen. Also habe ich mir dieses Programm erst mal runtergeladen. Ich bin ganz stolz auf mich, dass es mir auch ohne Hilfe-Rufe nach der jüngeren Generation gelungen ist ☺ Der Kauf des eBooks selber verlief dann etwas komplizierter. Erst wurde ich aufgefordet einen Kindle Account anzulegen, danach diesen aus den USA in hiesige Sphären zu übertragen und erst danach - und das dann auch wieder erst ca. 15 Minuten später - klappte es endlich, das Buch zu erstehen. Jippieeehhh!!! 

Ich habe das Büchlein in einem Rutsch durchgelesen. Es ist sehr amüsant zu lesen. Lloyd hat einen sehr angenehmen Schreibstil und ich hoffe, dass dies nicht sein einziges Büchlein bleibt. 

Er erzählt darin von den ersten Überlegungen dem Hamsterrad als Zahnarzt in Glasgow zu entkommen, über den Kauf ihrer kleinen Farm in Neuseeland bis zu einigen Episoden aus ihrem Alltag (Kauf des Autos, einiger Tiere, Freizeitvergnügen,...). Aber alles mit einem zwinkernden Auge. Man findet kein Gejammere oder böse Worte.

Es ist nicht in dem Stil jener unmöglichen Auswanderer-TV-Sendungen geschrieben. Es enthält auch keinerlei Tipp zur Auswanderung selbst. Es ist einfach eine Zusammenfassung von Lauras und Lloyds Weg von Glasgow nach Neuseeland.
