Poncho CAL

I aways wanted to make a pocho.
Today Angie from over at Sucrette's started a CAL and I happily joined in.
As for the colour choice I choose this sample I made a year ago. You can see it in my profile photo on my blog, too.

I did a short stash dive and got out 10 skeins of each colour. Here you can see me, well not in person though, searching for that pink colour in my red-pink-violett stash. Why 10 skeins each? Well, I don't like to stash dive each time I ran out of yarn. So 10 is a good figure and I will see lateron how much I will really need.

And these are the colours - and you can see why I called my blog Basketful of Joy.... 

But before I can really jump into that new project I have to finish my Swirl. Right now I'm this far

There are still 50 ends at the cuff left to weave in plus that finishing toch of bathing and blocking. It should be ready this week. 

During those last weeks I did a few new test knittings, too. I will show them to you shortly.

Test knitting #5 - Teststrick #5

Here is a picture on my test knitting Seashells by Susan Ashcroft as mentioned in my last post. It's not much yet, but I have only knitted on it a couple of hours. And all set up rows plus those very first rows take their time, because they always are so fiddly. 

Hier ist schon mal ein Foto von meinem Teststrick Seashells von Susan Ashcroft, welchen ich im letzten Post erwähnt habe. Es ist nochnicht viel, aber ich habe auch erst ein paar Stündchen gestrickt. Und die Anfangsreihen brauchen immer ihre Zeit, weil sie so fiddelich sind.

Test knitting again - Wieder ein Teststrick

I'm so excited. Today I got the news that I am allowed to do another test knit for Susan Ashcroft / stitchnerd.
It will be this shawl here.
Now I am waiting to get the pattern. We are all ready for the start - as you can see in the photo. The yarn I will use is Cherry Tree Hill in Sugar Maple. Doesn't it look lovely? So full of spring colours...

Ich bin ja so aufgeregt. Heute habe ich die Nachricht erhalten, dass ich ein weiteres Test Stricken für Susan Ashcroft / stitchnerd machen darf. Es wird dieser Schal hier werden.
Jetzt warte ich darauf, dass sie mir das Muster zushickt. Wir hier sind auf jeden Fall fertig - wie man unschwer im Foto sehen kann. Das Garn, das ich benutzen werde, ist von Cherry Tree Hill in der Farbe Sugar Maple. Sieht es nicht herrlich aus? So richtig frühlingshaft...

Photo session - Foto-Termin

Today I did a photo session in the garden. Some of my projects waited for being taken photos of. So in spite of our freezing temperatures of -10°C (mind at noon!) I went out and tried to drape my projects around the cherry tree. I didn't stay out for too long, because I couldn't face the cold. Normally I would have done many more pictures, but that freezing temperatures made my fingers so stiff. 

So what did I do this week? 

I made some progress on my Swirl. 

And I finished that test knitting of the "Cabriole Scarf" from my last post.

Then there are those older projects from last year like the "Bat Shawl", a free pattern by Carlinomon / Jana Albrecht ...... 

... and the "Romantica Schal"

.... both by Birgit Freyer Knitting Delight / Die WollLust.  They had been KALs over at Ravelry.


So now I'm saying good bye to you. Those photo sessions and writing this blog took quite a while and I still have to do some other jobs, like preparing dinner. I defroze a roastbeef for tonight and will have to peel the patatoes and decide on the veggies to go with.

Heute habe ich einen Foto-Termin im Garten abgehalten. Einige meiner Projecte mussten noch besser fotografiert werden. Also bin ich trotz der eisigen Temperaturen von -10°C (wohlgemerkt zur Mittagszeit!) bin ich raus und habe versucht, meine Projekte um den Kirschbaum zu drapieren.. Allerdings bin ich nicht zu lange draußen geblieben, denn ich konnte die Kälte nicht mehr aushalten. Normalerweise hätte ich viel mehr Fotos gemacht, aber meine Finger waren schon ganz steif von der Kälte.

Also, was habe ich diese Woche gemacht?
Mein Swirl hat ein paar Fortschritte zu verzeichnen.

Und ich habe den Teststrick-Schal "Cabriole" aus dem letzten Post fertig gestellt.

Dann sind da noch jene älteren Projekte aus letztem Jahr wie der  ""Fledermaus Schal"", ein gratis Muster von  Carlinomon / Jana Albrecht ......

So, und nun verabschiede ich mich für heute. Die Fotografiererei und das Blog-Schreiben haben den halben Tag in Anspruch genommen. Nun sollte ich noch ein paar andere Dinge erledigen, wie z.B. das Abendessen vorbereiten. Dafür habe ich ein Roastbeef aufgetaut. Nun sollten noch die Kartoffeln geschält und das Gemüse geputzt werden, damit es heute Abend etwas zügiger geht.
Ich wünsche euch allen noch einen schönen Rest-Sonntag.

Back again - Wieder da

So here I am again. It's been a fortnight already since I posted my last post.  So where have I been? Busy, very busy. Apart from a bug that was caught by a family member, whom I nursed then, I did quite a lot of knitting. 

The test knitting from my last post has been finished - and another test knitting started. 

Here is the "Love Train" by Stitchnerd / Susan Ashcroft

And here is the new test knitting by Tinyknit / Linda Browing. It's called "Cabriole Scarf". The pattern hasn't been released yet, but will be soon. 

I haven't finished the scarf yet. 1/4 of it is still missing plus the finishing lace at both ends. 

This is how far I am right now. 

And a close up of the pattern right at the beginning. The scarf is knitted with a provisional cast-on from the middle to both ends. 

And then there is my "Swirl". I made some progress on it, too. I'm knitting the sleeves now.

I'm a bit tired now. So I will take a rest - before doing all the cooking/cleaning up and later going on knitting. I can't wait till it is all finished. 

So da bin ich wieder. Da ich  gerade doch arg müde bin, hier nur ganz kurz den zusammengefassten deutschen Teil des Posts:
Test-Strick 2 (gelber Schal) beendet, Test 3 (blauer Schal) zu 3/4 fertig. Mein Swirl macht auch Fortschritte. Ich bin jetzt an den Ärmeln. Die Fotos könnt ihr alle oben im engl. Teil sehen.

Später werde ich diesen Post noch mal bearbeiten, aber für jetzt sollte es erst mal reichen.

Another test knit - Noch ein Test-Stricken

In an earlier post I mentioned something about I didn't want to start another project before I have finished some of my WiPs or UFOs (UnFinished Objects) as they are called, too.

Well, on Thursday I was asked to do another test knitting for the same designer as the last one, Susan Ashcroft aka stitchnerd on Ravelry. I couldn't say no for sure, couldn't I. So I cast on yesterday. The pattern called "Love Train" and you can find it on Ravelry here.

Here is a photo of the first few rows.

 

Not much to be seen yet. Unfortunately I had to knit back 5 rows as I knitted them in stockinette where there had to be garter stitches. Grrrr.... Lost one hour knitting this way. It's no good watching the scheming JR Ewing (You do remember "Dallas", do you?) where there should be done some serious knitting. hahaha

This test knitting has got a very close time line. I have to finish it this week. Now I put my Swirl on a hold for a few days. I admit, I haven't done much on it due to all the computer stuff. But the KAL will start on January 18th. So, where will I get another pair of hands? Scroll down to the German part to see a photo of my Swirl so far. It's been controlled closely by my two girls.

Ich schulde euch ja noch bessere Fotos von meinem anderen Teststrick "Leaves in a line" . Oben sind sie.

In einem früheren Post hatte ich ja erwähnt, dass ich erst ein paar meiner WiPs oder UFOs (UnFinished Objects), wie sie auch genannt werden, fertigstellen wollte, ehe ich mit etwas Neuem beginne.
Nun, am Donnerstag wurde ich von Susan Ashcroft alias stitchnerd auf Ravelry gefragt, ob ich einen weiteren Teststrick für sie machen könnte. Das konnte ich natürlich nicht ablehnen, oder? Also habe ich gestern angestrickt.
Das Muster heißt  "Love Train" und ist hier  auf Ravelry zu finden.
Oben im englischen Teil ist ein Foto der ersten paar Reihen zu sehen.
Man kann noch nicht viel sehen. Unglücklicherweise musste ich dann gestern noch 5 Reihen zurückstricken, da ich glatt rechts statt kraus rechts gestrickt hatte. (Übrigens, im Englischen gibt es viel bessere Bezeichnungen dafür, die weniger verwirrend sind: Stockinette stitch = glatt rechts und Garter stitch = kraus rechts)
Ich habe glatt eine Stunde Strickzeit dadurch verloren. Grrr... Es ist halt nicht gut, wenn man den guten alten JR Ewing (ihr erinnert euch doch noch an "Dallas"?) im Fernsehen anschaut während man ein ernsthaftes  Strickprojekt angeht. hihihi
Dieser Teststrick hat eine ganz kurzfristige Deadline. Ich mus noch diese Woche fertig werden. Deshalb wird mein Swirl auch erst mal beiseite gelegt werden. Ich muss aber auch zugeben, dass ich nicht all zu viel daran gestrickt habe dieses Jahr. Es gab einfach zu viel mit dem Computer zu tun. Der KAL startet jedoch schon am 18. Januar. Wo kriege ich also noch ein paar Hände mehr her?

Hier ist ein Foto von meinem Swirl. Wie man sieht, bin ich noch nicht weit, aber er wird von meinen beiden Mädchen genauestens in Augenschein genommen.

Do you know Pinterest? For those of you, who don't know Pinterest by now, it's a virtual pinboard, where you can pin all the wonderful pictures/photos that you always find in the www just by clicking on the Pinterest-Button that you add to your bookmarks in you browser.
Certainly the copyright source is always added to the photos.

Joining Pinterest was another thing I can tick off on my to-do-list for 2012. It's amazing over there. You can spend hours looking at all the pictures pinned on the many boards.

Kennt ihr Pinterest? Für die unter euch, die Pinterest noch nicht kennen, es ist eine virtuelle Pinwand. Dort kann man all die schönen Bilder sammeln, die man so beim Surfen im Internet findet, indem man einen Pinterest-Button anklickt, den man sich in die Lesezeichenleiste seines Browsers packt.
Selbstverständlich wird die Copyright-Quelle jeweils mit angegeben.

Pinterest beizutreten war noch ein Punkt auf meiner to-do-Liste für 2012. Es ist toll dort. Man kann Stunden damit zubringen all die bisher gesammelten Bilder auf den Pinwänden anzusehen.

Organising my projects on Ravelry - Aufräumen auf meiner Ravelry Projektseite

Now that my computer is up and running again - or what you might call running after a reinstallation - I tackled the job to tidy up my projects on Ravelry. As I am one of those knitters/crocheters that start heaps of projects but are reluctant in completing them, I'm surrounded by unfinished projects, so called WiP, which means Work in Progress. I really envy those, who just work on one project at a time. I think I've got at least 20 baskets with WiPs, some of them very old. There is even one I undigged from 25 years of hibernation. But I think I might frog it some day. 

Unsually I can't get over that 70% of completion. I loose the hang of it then and want to start something new. So it's laid back into its basket for a rest, a very long rest sometimes.... Unfortunately there are sooooo many projects awaiting to be done.... I wish I had more arms and more time to do them. 

Well, I decided, from now on I will only work on 6 projects at the same time. (I wonder for how long I can stick to it....) All the rest are send to hibernate. It wasn't easy to decide which to choose for hibernation. But then I decided to complete the oldest ones first. With the only exception of my Swirl-Jacket, which I'm knitting in a KAL with the Millionbells-Group on Ravelry. It's my priority now.

You can find my projects on Ravelry here. I have to mention that I didn't upload all of my projects yet. And those that are uploaded are not up-to-date. That's something I have to do somewhen in the following weeks.

Nachdem mein Computer wieder läuft - oder was man nach einer Neuinstallation so laufen nennt - habe ich nun mal meine Projekte-Seite auf Ravelry aufgeräumt. Ich gehöre ja zu denen, welche zig Sachen anfangen und nur allmählich zu Ende bringen. Ich bin umgeben von jeder Menge sogenannter WiPs. Was so viel heißt wie Work in Progress, also unfertige Erzeugnisse. Ich beneide diejenigen, welche erst eine Arbeit beenden ehe sie eine neue beginnen. Ich glaube, ich habe mindestens 20 Körbe mit WiPs. Einer davon sogar mit einer vor über 25 Jahren begonnenen Jacke. Die werde ich aber eher wieder aufribbeln anstatt fertig zu stricken.
Meist befällt mich so bei 70% der Fertigstellung die Unlust und das Projekt wandert für eine mehr oder längere Zeit zurück in seinen Korb. Es gibt aber auch sooo viele schöne Projekte, welche ich noch angehen möchte... Hätte ich doch nur mehr Arme und noch mehr Zeit.
Nun habe ich beschlossen, dass ich nur noch an 6 Projekten parallel arbeite. (Mal sehen, wie lange mein Vorsatz aufrecht erhalten bleibt....) Alle anderen werden zur Überwinterung geschickt. Die Auswahl, welche nun überwintern müssen, war auch nicht so einfach. Doch dann entschied ich mich dafür, dass die ältesten Projekte zuerst beendet werden müssen. Mit der Ausnahme von meinem neuesten großen Projekt, der Swirl-Jacke, die ich zusammen mit der Zauberglöckchen-Gruppe stricke. Die hat jetzt Priorität.
Das Buch mit weiteren Swirls ist von Sandra McIver und heißt Knit, Swirl! Bisher gibt es das Buch nur auf Englisch. Zu finden auf Amazon hier.
Meine Projekt-Seite auf Ravelry kann man hier einsehen. Allerdings habe ich noch immer nicht alle meine Projekt-Körbe hochgeladen. Und die hochgeladenen sind auch nicht alle auf dem aktuellen Stand. Dies wäre mal wieder eine neue Aufgabe für die nächsten Wochen.

Disappeared - Verschwunden

Today I intended to block a wrap that I was allowed to test knit by  Susan/Stitchnerd over at Ravelry. Have a look at her gorgeous designs Stitchnerd. Unfortuately I couldn't find my fabric cover for my ironing board. There had been so much moving around last year  with all those works in the house, that I put it somewhere where it doesn't belong. So the only thing I could do was, drive into town and buy a new one. As my ironing board is by Karcher, it was very pricey. Goshh! Certainly the old cover will re-appear in the next days. It's always like that, isn't it?

Now here is a peek of my wrap. ;-)) I will take new (better???)  photos tomorrow.
Hier ist schon mal ein kurzer Blick auf die Stola. Morgen mache ich neue (bessere??) Fotos.

Heute wollte ich eine Stola, die ich für Susan/Stitchnerd auf Ravelry Teststricken durfte, auf meinem Dampfbügeltisch spannen und fixieren, doch wo war der Bezug abgeblieben? Ich habe schier alles abgesucht, aber er blieb verschwunden. Nun blieb mir nichts anderes übrig, als in die Stadt zu fahren und einen neuen Bezug samt Unterlage zu kaufen. Grrrrrr..... Kärcher ist ganz schön teuer! Nun wird ganz bestimmt der alte Bezug in den nächsten Tagen wieder auftauchen. So ist es doch immer, oder? Schaut euch doch mal die tollen Designs von Stitchnerd an.

As for my blog, I'm still playing around with all those prefabricated layouts. So please be patient when it loooks extremely horrible from time to time. 
I managed to upload a photo for my header. But that photo turned out huuuuge and nowhere is a button to downsize it. It must be somewhere. I'm becoming desperate.

Bezüglich des Blogs bin ich dauernd dabei mit den Vorlagen herumzuspielen und auszuprobieren. Habt also bitte noch etwas Geduld mit mir, wenn er zeitweise sehr extrem aussieht. Z.B. habe ich es jetzt geschafft, ein Foto in die Überschrift zu laden. Doch ist das Foto viel zu groß und wird deshalb gar nicht ganz angezeigt. Irgendwo muss doch aus dies eingestellt werden können. Manchmal ist es zum Verzweifeln.....
